在SAT中，凡是nor出现，在其前面必须要有neither或者not，所以先排除A、B和C。在D和E中，仅仅从文法角度看，D没有问题，但这样profited就变成和created或failed平行，句意上不通。所以就只能和to achieve进行平行，即he failed to do A or to do B。本句的意思是：他没有从他创作的艺术中获得名声，也没有从出售作品中获利。

D也是不可比。同时they的指代有问题，因为在句中没有一个复数名词可以作为they的指代对象。
