动词表示一种动态，新闻标题在浓缩新闻内容时，如能恰到好处地用上一个动词，就能增色不少，给人以形象生动、跃然纸上的感觉。如Attack hits US Financial sector，too．远比Attack in US Financial sector，too．具体而达意。标题中用了动词，固然好处不少，但也给我们阅读英文报刊增加了一个困难。

(2)现在时可以和带有since或for等表示“一段”的状语连用,表示动作或状态从某一时刻开始，一直持续到现在。如：I haven\'t seen him for two years. ，像come,arrive,buy等终止性动词与表示“一段”的状语连用。要用，改为“be(在)”等延续性动词来表述。现归纳总结一下由非延续性动词到延续性动词的转换：
arrive→be here begin(start)→be on
die →be dead come back→be back
leave →be away fall ill(sick,asleep)→be ill(sick,asleep)

4.用过去时表示现在，表示的是委婉语气。这类动词有两类：
